A bit about me:

I have been researching my own family history for over ten years using a combination of archives and online resources. I always check original documents and records myself where possible. As a result I have an extensive family tree including some interesting characters. My ancestors came from the West Country on one side and the East Midlands and Yorkshire with a few from Berkshire on the other side. Their backgrounds were as varied as their places of origin ranging from paupers to factory owners. I have made many contacts and discovered a couple of other not too distant family members who have been following similar lines of research and it's great to share discoveries. I have begun to put my family history online so take a look!

In 2005 I was asked to develop a course for people wanting to start tracing their own family history. This was a great success and a 'next steps' course followed for people who wanted to develop their skills further. Feedback has been excellent and while the courses are challenging, covering a lot of ground in the time, we have a lot of fun on the way.
