Thomas's parents were Thomas Wells and Susanna Elsey who married 13/09/1771 at South Somercotes.
Mary was the daughter of Mathew Coote and Mary Portas. A note in the Parish Register shows a Mathew Coote was the Churchwarden for North Somercotes in 1776.
Thomas Wells and Mary Coote were also first cousins once removed.
Thomas's father, Thomas Wells b. 1730 was the brother of Mary's Grandmother, Mary Wells b. 1713.
