Transcript of the Will of John Wells died 1700

Novem: 21 1693
In ye name of God Amen I John Wells of Northsomercotes in ye Count. Of Lincolns Lab: doo hereby make my last will & Testament in Manner & form following first I give & bequeath my soul into ye hands of God Almighty who gave it me
(page torn – too damaged to read two lines) meritts I trust to reward eternal life at ye latter day & as for that worldly estate which it haith pleased God to lend me I give & bequeath it as ffollows.
Impr. I give & bequeath unto my son John Wells five pounds & unto my daugter Mary Wells five pounds to bee paid to them within a year next after my deceas & ye rest of my estate both real & personal with my land I doo give unto Mary my Loving wife after whose deceas my land shall come to my daugter Mary Wells as it was given her by her Grandmoth Collingwood.
In witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand & seal this day & year first above written.
